The JSSDT’s Annual Beer & Sake Festival will be held on Friday, June 13 in the brand-new Events Center at Harrah’s Rincon San Diego North. The Beer & Sake Festival offers a wide variety of Japanese sakes & beers, local craft beers, appetizers from local restaurants, and great entertainment. This year’s featured entertainer is world-renowned ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro. Guests will also enjoy the dynamic sounds of San Diego Taiko. Proceeds from the Beer & Sake Festival support JSSDT educational and community outreach programs.

This event is for guests 21 and over.

Beginner Class (Tuesday 6:00 to 8:00pm)
An Introductory course for people with no prior training in Japanese. This course strives to develop an understanding of basic elements of Japanese grammar, expressions, and writing system.
Textbook: “Japanese For Busy People”, Volume 1 Lessons 1 -15

Intermediate Class (Thursday 6:00 to 8:00pm)
Course mainly conducted in Japanese and continues progress in building vocabulary, learning advanced grammar aspects using the skills of listening, speaking, reading and composition.

About the Instructor                 

Miyako Furr

More than fifteen years as a Japanese language teacher in the culturally diverse Silicon Valley.  Miyako has developed a strong curriculum that works for each student’s various level and needs.  Her teaching experiences include 11 years teaching at Japan Society of Northern California.

Japanese Beer & Sake Tasting at Japanese Friendship Garden

The JSSDT will host a Beer & Sake tasting area at the Japanese Friendship Garden’s Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday, March 8, 2014.   For just $15, you can enjoy delicious samples of Japanese beer and sake, and local craft beer, under the beautiful cherry blossoms.
